The last time we met Christopher Chance, he was stuck inside this smart building going after him, trying to rescue someone who‘s being held hostage (figuratively) by some powerful weapons manufacturer. End result: everything worked out fine... but, as always, not exactly fine, since there‘s the question of Chance‘s past to follow up on.

Still getting some clues about Chance‘s past, eh? I don‘t think we‘ll have much of those tonight. In tonight‘s episode of Human Target, Chance gets quite a handful. You see, he‘s tasked to rescue a genius engineer from his bosses. His killer bosses, in fact. They own a weapons company, and they‘re pretty much up to no good, as you can see from their maximum security headquarters. I mean, you can‘t just break in without being noticed.

So, can anybody tell me what Guerrero is exactly up to? Okay, so he‘s still on our side, but what he did--virtually giving information on Chance to some guy--definitely planted some seeds. He‘s the most mysterious character on

It‘s getting there, but I‘m glad Human Target‘s getting its swing. Last week‘s episode was tighter, yes, but the best thing perhaps was the little bit about Chance‘s past--him being John Doe, him having all these aliases, him leaving that fingerprint on that FBI agent‘s handcuffs, suggesting that he wants out--now there‘s a season-long conflict I can follow.

Last week‘s Human Target--the one on Wednesday night, I must clarify--deserves to be called out for two things. One, can you really fly a plane upside down and sustain it? I only know of pilots spinning it around, and that‘s in an air show. And now we get Chance, who probably isn‘t a trained pilot (but how would I know), flipping a plane belly up so the fire at the cargo area can be extinguished. And keeping it that way for, I don‘t know, five minutes or so.

Human Target must love different modes of transportation a lot. Must be the thrill associated with it. I mean, Chance took the job in the series premiere last Sunday because he gets to ride California‘s first bullet train! That‘s 200 mph of sheer goodness--at least until the brakes fail and the whole thing threatens to derail. Oh, and the fight scenes inside the carriages, too.

The folks at Fox have given a lot of promotion for their newest action series, Human Target. Last night‘s premiere aired before 24‘s return. In a week the show will sit comfortably beside American Idol. Weeks before, there‘ve been quite a number of promos across the schedule. And, after watching last night‘s episode--they call it a "preview" but it‘s the pilot episode anyway--I‘m left here wondering, "what makes it so special?"

We‘re all getting another dose of action from Fox starting tonight--and, even if you haven‘t read the comic books or the graphic novel, or seen the apparently television movie from way back, you‘ll find this idea pretty good. Ladies and gentlemen, say hello to the human target.

Looks like these smart kids won‘t shine just yet.Fox has pulled out the game show Our Little Genius from its schedules, before it could even premiere. The show‘s executive producer, Mark Burnett, decided he doesn‘t want the episodes to air.

Judging from the decent turn of events, Human Target‘s premiere wouldn‘t exactly go as expected.Fox executives were hoping that the Mark Valley-fronted action series‘ premiere, set for January 17 at 8pm, would get a strong boost from an NFL game early in the afternoon. Well, not exactly. NFL announced its post-season schedule, and Fox is airing the first football game (at 1pm) on that day. So, no, no football lead-in.
