Prosecutors are set to drop charges against W. stars Josh Brolin and Jeffrey Wright, over an altercation in a bar in Shreveport, Louisiana. Blair Berk, an attorney for the actors, reported that prosecutors in the city agreed to drop the charges provided that both Brolin and Wright pay $130 each in court costs.

After releasing his controversial Bush biopic W., Oliver Stone is set to produce a documentary on another controversial world leader: Venezuelan president Hugo Chavez. The film, which has yet to receive a name, has been in the works for the past six months, and the director hopes that it sees light next year.

A popular local news anchor who also had a minor role in Oliver Stone’s latest biopic W. was in critical condition after being stabbed in her home. Anne Pressly, 26, was found by her mother at her home on early Monday morning unconscious after being beaten and severely stabbed. Initial investigation presumes that the television journalist, who works for a television station in Little Rock, Arkansas, was hurt because of a robbery attempt, as her purse was found missing.

Just because Oliver Stone directed W., people assume that it will be controversial. The masses are expecting a hatchet job. They are expecting a brutal portrayal of a man who many deem the worst President of their lifetimes. He is a president that is so controversial, a film was made chronicling his life while hes still in office. This sort of thing doesnt often happen. The man is ripe for satire, his presidency a parade of blunders, and Oliver Stone, with writer Stanley Weiser, could have gone myriad directions with the script – what events to dramatize, what tone to use, how to characterize the first Cowboy President. Fortunately for all of us, Stone took the most surprising and, ultimately, effective route: He gave Dubya every benefit of the doubt, never accused him of malice, never questioned his motives. While this makes for about as non-controversial a film about Dubya as possible, it also makes, interestingly enough, the most damning case against his presidency.

Early reviews have pointed that the film might feel inconclusive, simply because the story isnt over yet—were still, after all, in the middle of an intense presidential campaign set against the backdrop of a financial crisis and international woes.
