Biography

The Movement is an all male dance crew from New York City. It consists of five members.

Thierry Jean

Thierry Jean is a twenty-two-year-old from Queens, New York.  Since childhood, he had been dancing at events he attended.  During his junior year in high school, he became part of the group named Team Productions where he danced and choreographed.  Jean graduated from Pace University with a degree in Marketing.  He earns a living by working at Blackplanet.com and at Home Depot.  Aside from dancing, he’s also fascinated with painting, acting and modeling.  He looks up to Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Omarion, Usher and Chris Brown.  Jean gets his inspiration from the inner-city youth.  Their ability to continuously create and design creative dance styles amazes him and encourages him.

Kenneth Cooper

Kenneth “Kenny” Cooper started his dancing career in middle school.  He attended a local performing arts school and the training brought out his ability to move.  This 24-year-old man from New York works at Con Edison.  His other talents are singing and styling.  His passion for dancing is his inspiration.  Another source of motivation and encouragement is his supportive family.  In the dancing industry, his idols are Michael Jackson, Usher, Omarion, Justin Timberlake and Aaliyah.  He hopes to learn a lot and bring a lot to the table by being on Dance Crew.  Cooper also looks forward to gaining more dance skills while competing on the show.

Kristopher Campbell

Twenty-three-year-old Kristopher “Siya” Campbell hails from Queens, New York.  He started dancing at an early age of nine.  It was his sister who first took interest in dancing, but upon watching her rehearsals, Campbell immediately followed her on the dance floor.  He attended dance classes at DeVore Dana Center.  He pays his bills by having a job at Express and by doing consultant engineer work for his father.  When not dancing, Campbell uses his free time playing basketball or baseball.  He is also fond of modeling.  His dancing idols are Michael Jackson, Usher, Justin Timberlake, Janet Jackson and Omarion.  Campbell gets his inspiration from his parents.  They are the ones who push him to get better in dancing and they constantly encourage him to make a mark in the industry.

Tremayne Williams

Tremayne “Trauma” Williams started his dance career at a young age.  He was just a fourth grade student when he was cast as Michael Jackson for the performance of “The Way You Make Me Feel” in a spring recital dance.  Now at 26, he is currently taking up a course in Social Science.  Williams comes from New York City and works as an activity specialist in Police Athletic League.  His job involves teaching children the art of stepping and dancing.  Aside from dancing, Williams’ other talents include singing and modeling.  He admires Usher, Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Justin Timberlake and Omarion for their dancing abilities.  Williams gets his inspiration from his Aunt Jessie.  She was the person who always reminded him that opportunities are limitless and that he should never settle.

Robert Boyer

Robert “Gentle” Boyer is a 21-year-old from Brooklyn, New York.  He claims that he’s been dancing all his life.  He earns a living by working at an Abercrombie and Fitch store.  Aside from dancing, he is also interested singing and acting.  He has a lot of respect for Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Usher, Chris Brown, TLC and Justin Timberlake.  Boyer’s father died when he was young and since then, it was his mother who single-handedly raised him and his sister.  That’s why his number one goal is to make his mother proud.  He gets his inspired whenever he sees dancers on videos or in concerts for major artists.  He is happy that dancers like him are starting to get the kind of exposure and credit they deserve.  By being on the Dance Crew, Boyer hopes to take advantage of the opportunity and be a role model for kids.

The Movement is a finalist for MTV’s 2008 reality talent search Randy Jackson Presents: America’s Best Dance Crew; where hip-hop dance groups from all over US compete for the prize money and for the opportunity to be given a touring contract.
