Monica Keena is an American actress particularly known for her recurring role as Abby Morgan in WB’s teen series Dawson’s Creek.
Hailing from New Jersey, Monica Keena was born on May 28, 1979 to Mary and William Keena. She grew up in Brooklyn, where she attended Saint Ann’s School. At the age of 13, she applied at LaGuardia High School of Performing Arts, where she was accepted both in the dramatic and vocal arts departments.
Keena co-starred with Al Pacino in Strindberg’s stage play The Father, in which she portrayed the character Bertha. She then followed this with her starring role in Snow White: A Tale of Terror. She also appeared in the television and film productions First Daughter and Crime and Punishment in Suburbia, which was featured at the 2000 Sundance Film Festival.
In 1995, she did a minor role in the romantic comedy While You Were Sleeping, which starred Sandra Bullock, Bill Pullman and Peter Gallagher. She then followed this with her appearance in the films The Simian Line with Harry Connick Jr., Cindy Crawford, Tyne Daly, William Hurt, Samantha Mathis, Lynn Redgrave, Jamey Sheridan and Eric Stoltz; Bad Girls from Valley High, with Julie Benz, Nicole Bilderback, Janet Leigh and Jonathan Brandis, in his last film appearance before he died in 2003.
In 1998, Keena further gained recognition when she did a recurring role in Dawson’s Creek as the school’s bad girl Abby Morgan. She appeared in the television series for 14 episodes. In 2001, she did a starring role in FOX’s short lived comedy-drama/sitcom Undeclared. In the series, Keena played Rachel Lindquist, Lizzie’s (Carla Gallo) roommate.
After Undeclared, Keena did guest roles in a number of television series including Law & Order, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Homicide: Life on the Street, Feds, Entourage, and in ABC’s hit medical drama Grey’s Anatomy.
