Laura Marano Biography:

Laura Marano is a child actor from Los Angeles, California. She first appeared on stage when she was only five years old, and since then, has gone on to work for many productions at the Stage Door Theater. Marano has also appeared in numerous commercials and had small roles in television series such as Ghost Whisperer , Medical Investigation, Huff and Joan of Arcadia. Her bigger roles in television have been for the shows Without a Trace , The X’s, Ni Hao Kai-Lan, Dexter and The Sarah Silverman Show. She was also in the film The Jacket with Oscar winner Adrien Brody, and has been heard on the animated movies Finding Nemo and Ice Age 2: The Meltdown. Currently, she is appearing as one of the five young whiz kids in the FOX game show Are You Smarter than a 5th Grader? Marano claims to like all academic subjects, playing soccer and the piano, tap dancing and singing.

Biography

American child actress Laura Marano was born on November 29, 1995 in Los Angeles, California. She launched her acting career when she was just five years old, first appearing in productions staged at the Stage Door Theater, and then moving on to television commercials. She made her television acting debut in 2003, when she was included in the cast of the crime series Without a Trace. She played the role of Kate Malone, the daughter of the series lead, FBI agent Jack Malone (Anthony LaPaglia). She played this recurring character for eight episodes, until 2006.

Marano also played several guest roles in other television shows, including Joan of Arcadia, Medical Investigation, Ghost Whisperer, Huff and Dexter. In 2007, she started appearing in the game show Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader?, appearing as a member of the panel. She appeared in the show’s first season; her position was since taken over by fellow child actress Marki Ann Meyer. She also took on a regular role in the sitcom Back to You, playing the role of Gracie Carr, the daughter of news anchor Kelly (Patricia Heaton) and, as later revaled, her colleague Chuck Darling (Kelsey Grammer). She only played the role for several episodes, with her character later portrayed by Lily Jackson. She also had a role in the comedy series The Sarah Silverman Program. Initially cast as a younger version of Silverman, she was later given a role as a girl who Sarah trains for a beauty pageant after producers were impressed with her work.

Marano appeared in several films. Her first was the 2005 thriller The Jacket, playing the younger version of Keira Knightley’s character. Her other films include Goldfish and Superbad. She also contributed her voice to Ice Age: The Meltdown and the animated series The X’s.
