Mike Judge Talks About Ending 'King of the Hill'

May 17, 2009

Having wrapped up King of the Hill's 13th season, series co-creator Mike Judge reflects on what it's like to work on over 200 episodes of the series.  While it looks like the Arlen, Texas-based animated comedy has reached its end, there are a couple installments left to air.  No dates have been released about that, but there's hope for return this September or October.  However, Mike Judge believes the time really has come for the end.

"I actually think it's probably a good time to stop," he said on an interview with the New York Times.  "Then again, I kind of wanted to stop six or seven years ago, and I felt like it got really good after that.  At the same time I would prefer to quit while we're ahead rather than run it into the ground."

King of the Hill: Preview of Season 13 Finale "Uh-Oh Canada"

May 17, 2009

While King of the Hill's fate hangs in the balance, it still has to finish up its 13th season.  Tonight marks the season finale of the acclaimed animated series, closing off with the episode "Uh-oh Canada."

On tonight's King of the Hill, Boomhauer (Mike Judge) decides to trade houses with a family from Canada.  Though the switch will only be for the summer, it seems like a long time.  He leaves behind Arlen and the rest of its inhabitants, who in turn try their best to make the newcomers feel at home.

'King of the Hill' Might Continue its Reign on ABC

It seems that Hank Hill will live long after all. Following FOX's announcement that it was canceling King of the Hill after next season, other networks are apparently looking into acquiring the two-time Emmy Award-winning animated series. One of which is ABC, a network reportedly interested in bringing Mike Judge's show over its slate.  However, fans should not get their hopes up just yet since discussions are still in early stages at the moment, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

'King of the Hill' Ends its Reign

November 4, 2008

In an effort to freshen up its animated slate, FOX has decided not to renew its long-running series King of the Hill as the network prepares to launch several new skeins in its Animation Domination lineup, including The Cleveland Show and Sit Down, Shut Up.

Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, King of the Hill is a two-time Emmy Award-winning series that revolves around a suburban Methodist family proud of its Texas heritage.  Unlike other animated sitcoms, the program attempts to offer a realistic approach, seeking humor in the otherwise conventional or mundane.
