Kenny Mayne Biography:
Born on September 1, 1959 and raised in Kent, Washington, Kenny Mayne is an ESPN sports reporter, who was an honor student at the Wenatchee Valley Community College, where he was also a junior college All-American quarterback. Mayne is a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he majored in Broadcasting. While he was completing his studies, Mayne also devoted two years to playing football, which ultimately led him to sign with the Seattle Seahawks after graduation. He became a sports anchor for ESPN in 1994, where he became popular for his work on SportSmash. From there, Mayne worked as a Sportscenter co-anchor with Dan Patrick, but was removed two years later after hitting some rough patches with the management. ESPN re-hired him in 1994 and in 2007 signed up to do 50 more shows for SportsCenter.
In 2006, Mayne was partnered with dancer Andrea Hale when he joined the second season of the ABC reality hit series, Dancing with the Stars. Unfortunately, his Cha-Cha skills proved to be terribly undeveloped, and consequently, he and Hale were the first to be voted off from the competition.
