Karamo Brown was featured as a member of the cast in the fifteenth season of the hit MTV reality television series The Real World, which was set in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Having grown up in a family of African-American and Jamaican descent, he presently lives in Los Angeles, though he originally hailed from Houston. Brown is also openly gay, and was the first gay black man to be featured on The Real World. The youngest of four siblings, he looked up to his three older sisters, whom he considers the most important people in his existence.
He has been deeply involved with social activism and relevant concerns such as politics, charity work, and non-profit organizations. Though he was brought up with strong anti-white prejudice in his life, he is struggling against racism and trying to adjust to the idea of interracial dating. Brown does his best to keep an open mind about things and to let go of any prejudiced perceptions. He would eventually go on to pursue higher learning at Florida A&M University, where he majored in Business Administration. Brown has also been involved with the Brotherhood Crusade based in Los Angeles, where he wrote proposals for grants and tried to help establish support programs for the impoverished.
