Cuban-American actress Joanna Garcia was born in Tampa, Florida on August 10, 1979. She started performing at the age of 10, when she was cast as the lead on one of her school’s stage productions. She continued to act in local plays and was supported by her parents. Later on, she even became the homecoming queen of her batch in Tampa Catholic High School. The bilingual Joanna was discovered by Nickelodeon when she was there, enabling her to star i several seasons of the show Are You Afraid of the Dark? She postponed acting full-time for a year to study at Florida State University, but dropped out to continue her passion for performing. While she was in Florida, she landed guest roles in seaQuest DSV, Second Noah and Superboy. She later moved to Los Angeles, California and was cast in a recurring role on the series Party of Five. From 1999 to 2000, she played the role of the popular cheerleader Vicki Appleby on Freaks and Geeks.
Joanna Garcia rose to fame since then, making guest appearances on Family Law, Providence, Dawson’s Creek and Opposite Sex. She soon found roles in Freedom, Boston Public, Go Fish and What I Like About You. In 2001, Garcia landed the part of Christy on the movie American Pie 2, starring Jason Biggs. That year, she also got a role in the feature film Not Another Teen Movie. Joanna Garcia is actually best known for her role on the CW sitcom Reba, where she was cast as Cheyenne Hart-Montgomery, the oldest daughter of the title character. Garcia later voiced a character on the animated Family Guy, and was seen on the CBS series Welcome to the Captain. In 2008, she joined the cast of the CW series Privileged, where she played the lead character Megan Smith. Her other credits include roles in TV movies like From the Earth to the Moon and Love's Deadly Triangle: The Texas Cadet Murder. She is also involved in the “Make the Commitment” organization, and has created the charity “We Reach” to empower young women.
