American actor Jeremy Sisto was born on October 6, 1974 in Grass Valley, California. Though his parents were farmers, his mother was also known as an actress while his father was an educator and a jazz musician. When the two divorced, he got further exposed to acting when he met his stepfather, also an actor. But it was his sister who really got him involved in the performing arts. He became interested in acting when he was six. He started out doing plays at The Goodman Theater and also acted and directed plays in high school. His big break came when he was cast as Roberto in the film Grand Canyon when he was 16. At the time, he attended the Francis W. Parker School, and later studied acting full time at UCLA.
Early roles of Jeremy Sisto include those in Hideaway, Clueless, White Squall, Inside, Waitress and Thirteen. However, he rose to fame playing Billy Chenowith in the HBO series Six Feet Under. He has also been seen on The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things, A Lot Like Love, and In Enemy Hands. On television, his credits include performances in The Twilight Zone, Dawson’s Creek as well as on an episode of American Dad! From 2006 to 2007, he portrayed the dogged investigator Knapp on the short-lived NBC series Kidnapped. Since then, he managed to book roles in Numb3rs and My Boys, as well as voicing Batman in the video Justice League: The New Frontier. In 2008, he appeared in Gardens of the Night after a role in The War Prayer. He also gained a lot of mainstream success when he played Detective Cyrus Lupo on the crime drama Law & Order. He was brought in to replace the outgoing Milena Govich on the series. Later on, Jeremy Sisto signed on to play roles in Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Undead, Into Temptation and Sweet Flame.
