Born on April 26 in San Diego, California, Jason Daniel Earles graduated from Rocky Mountain College in Billings, Montana in 2000. His early television appearances include those in Mad TV and The Shield in 2003, and Still Standing as the character Goran the Invincible. He was also seen on the film National Treasure, where he played Thomas Gates in 2004.
"I’ve been acting since really early in elementary school. The first play I was ever in was Hansel and Gretel in the 3rd grade. I played Hansel and I always did plays in school from then on and tried to get into summer stuff," Earles said in a conversation with Eleni from KiwiOlsen.net. "Then once I moved down to California from Oregon and that’s when I started to try to act for film and TV."
In 2006, he got involved with Disney productions, who cast him on Phil of the Future as Grady Spaggett. He later rose to fame on Hannah Montana as Jackson Stewart, the lead character's brother.
In talking about his character on Hannah Montana, Earles revealed, "I think we are both really good friends and pretty happy-go-lucky. I was probably a little more serious of a student in school than what Jackson is. He seems to be distracted all the time. But grade[s] were really important to me and I took school very seriously, so that's probably the biggest difference. But I think if we were at a party, we would be competing for attention. We both have that personality."
In talking about his off-camera activities, Earles said, "I love going to movies, so if I have a couple of days off, I'll always spend just like one whole day in the theater. I'll go around 12PM and I'll stay until 10PM and I'll see like, 4 or 5 movies that I haven't had a chance to see while I've been working. And then I'll play a lot of video games, ‘cause I'm sort of a loser that way. That's a lot of sitting around, so I try to do some active stuff too. I love to play Ultimate Frisbee. I like to go jogging. Just being outside in general is good. The sun is good."
In 2008, Earles appeared on an episode of Boston Legal, and signed on to work on the productions Dadnapped, Space Buddies and Hannah Montana: The Movie. He has also participated numerous times in the Disney Channel Games.
