Biography

Born Jason Scott Greenspan on September 23, 1959 in Newark, New Jersey, Jason Alexander is best known for his role on the long-running comedy Seinfeld. Growing up to a nurse and an accounting manager parents, he has a half-sister and half-brother. He graduated from Livingston High School in Livingston, New Jersey in 1977, after which he attended Boston University. He did not finish his degree, however, as he left during the summer before his senior year upon finding out that he went to work in New York City. At the big apple, Alexander wanted to try his hand first at magic, but considered another career when he realized it is going to be as lucrative and rewarding as an artist.

Alexander’s foray into show business is via the New York stage where he came to be known as an able singer and cancer. He appeared on several Broadway productions like Merrily We Roll Along, The Rink, Neil Simon's Broadway Bound, Accomplice, and Jerome Robbins' Broadway. Film appearances include Love! Valour! Compassion!, Dunston Checks In, Pretty Woman and Just Looking.

One of Alexander’s most notable performances would be that of the award-winning sitcom Seinfeld from 1989. He played George Costanza, Seinfeld's childhood friend, a neurotic, self-loathing, stocky, bald man who is dominated by his parents. He has also appeared on the CBS sitcom E/R. His other screen credits include CBS’s E/R front of 1945 to 1985/

Unfortunately, Alexander wasn’t able to duplicate the same level of success Seinfeld experienced. In 2001, after the series, his first project was the 2001Alexander is also a voice actor, lending his vocals to the lead character on the cult animated series Duckman in 1994. He made cameos on several television shows such as Curb Your Enthusiasm. His first project was the short-lived ABC sitcom Bob Patterson, which was canceled after a mere five episodes. What followed was a CBS sitcom called Listen Up! He also managed to bag the series lead on the CBS sitcom Listen Up! that wasn’t renewed of Broken Hones.
