Jane Kaczmarek is a Polish-American actress born on December 21, 1955 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She has been nominated seven times for an Emmy Award (Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series), once for every year she played the role of Lois on Fox Network’s hit series Malcolm in the Middle. Jane Kaczmarek has also performed on Broadway in the plays Lost in Yonkers and Raised in Captivity, winning the L.A. Drama Critics Award for the latter. Apart from her success as an actress, she also founded the organization Clothes Off Our Back, which auctions off celebrity clothing to help support children’s charities. She majored in theater at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, later continuing her studies at the Yale School of Drama and becoming a part of its theater company.
In 1982, Jane Kaczmarek received her first television role, playing Margie Spoletto on the series For Lovers Only. From 1990 to 1991, she portrayed Linda Bauer on Equal Justice, which led to an impressive list of appearances and accolades. Some of her notable performances include those in Frasier, Law & Order, The Practice, Felicity and Party of Five. In 2000, she rose to even more fame playing Lois Wilkerson, mother of the title character in the Emmy-nominated sitcom, Malcolm in the Middle. The show was a hit, and this enabled the actress to really make her breakout in the industry. When the series ended in 2006, she was cast in Help Me Help You, a short-lived series starring Ted Danson. She also became known for voicing Judge Constance Harm on the hit animated series The Simpsons, from 2001 to 2007. Her next project became taking on a role on the TNT hour-long series Raising the Bar. Some of the films that Kaczmarek has appeared in are Pleasantville with Tobey Maguire and Reese Witherspoon, the drama Wildly Available, and the thriller The Chamber.

-Lois: Then chew it.
-Lois: You are not a weirdo, you are gifted. And if gifted kids are supposed to square-dance, then you'll do it. Probably teaches you geometry.
-Malcolm: I never even knew we had fancy silverware. When was the last time you used this?
-Lois: The night you were conceived. You want more details?
-Malcolm: Rhonda's a lesbian.
-Lois: Well, maybe she wouldn't be a lesbian if you tucked your shirt in.
-Lois: [about her parents] But at least we can be happy when they're gone.
-Malcolm: You mean when they drive back to Alaska?
-Lois: Yeah. That's what I meant.
-Lois: You just take your legs for granted like nothing could ever happen. But let me tell you something. That is just wishful thanking. There is meningitis. There are car accidents. I could be giving you a spanking and accidentally snap your spinal cord.
-Dewey: Mom, I don't take my legs for granted.
-Lois: I know honey, you're a good boy. Stop playing with yourself.
-Lois: We're on our way to Aunt Helen's funeral.
-Francis (on the phone): Aunt Helen died?
-Lois: Well, I sure hope so; we're going to her funeral.
