African-American actor Wendell Pierce rose to fame for his role as Detective Bunk Moreland on the HBO series The Wire, in which he was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series in 2007. Following his five-year stint on the show, he moved on to play William Bradford on Numb3rs and in 2010, he was cast as Antoine Batiste on yet another HBO series called Treme.

Pierce, who first appeared in the 1986 movie The Money Pit, also had recurring roles on shows like Capital News, Moloney, The Gregory Hines Show, The Brian Benben Show, The Weber Show and Law & Order. On the silver screen, he was cast in Ray, Stay Alive, The Fighting Temptations, The 24 Hour Woman and Waiting to Exhale, among others. In 2013, Pierce joined the NBC series The Michael J. Fox Show.

Aside from working as actor, Pierce also serves as the host of the Peabody Award-winning radio program, Jazz at Lincoln Center.
