Biography

Warren “Warren G” Griffin III appears as one of the rapper mentors in the MTV reality television competition series Celebrity Rap Superstar. His celebrity apprentice on the show is Countess Vaughn . He is an American rapper and hip-hop producer who was born on November 10, 1970 in Long Beach, California. He is also the step-brother of fellow record producer Dr. Dre. Griffin’s most successful hit was his g-funk single “Regulate,” which he worked on with Nate Dogg and released back in 1994. During the 90s, he was among the top 100 record artists of the decade, selling over a million copies of his work.

Back in the early 90s, he got together with Snoop Dogg and Nate Dogg to form the group 213, as well as introducing the others to Dr. Dre. However, the group broke up with each artist pursuing solo careers, before ever doing any collaborative work. He was also nominated for a Grammy Award for “Regulate.” Among the solo albums he has released are Take a Look Over Your Shoulder, I Want It All, and The Return of the Regulator. Apart from his career as a musician, he has also worked on films such as All of Us, Little Richard, and Old School. He later became a participant of VH1's Celebrity Fit Club.
