Survivor: Palau (Season 10)- 2nd eliminated (not chosen for either tribe)
Wanda Shirk Biography:
Wanda Shirk was born in Belleville, Pennsylvania, but spent her formative years in Ephrata, Pennsylvania, where she completed her studies at Ephrata High School. After her graduation, she enrolled at Wheaton College in Illinois, where she eventually obtained a degree in Bible and speech communication. She then pursued her master’s degree in education at Kutztown University, and from there worked as an English teacher in both junior and high school levels. She spent six years in Warwick High School, afterwhich she transferred to Northern Potter High School. Her other academic duties include supervising the school yearbook and newspaper staff, directing plays and advising the National Honors Society. When Shirk and her first husband were still together, they spent most of their time taking care of their two children, Dawn and Shawn and welcomed into their home 25 foster children and several exchange students from Norway, Germany and the Ukraine. An avid hiker, Shirk holds memberships to the Keystone Trails Association and two local hiking organizations.
As a contestant on Survivor: Palau, Shirk didn’t get much of a fighting chance for the title of Sole Survivor, as she was one of the first two people to be sent home from the island. During the tribal selection period, Shirk was not chosen to join either of the two tribes, Ulong and Koror, because her constant singing did not sit well with some of the other players.
