Victor Joseph Garber was born on March 16, 1949 in London, Ontario, Canada. He started acting when he was nine, joining the University of Toronto's Hart House when he was fifteen. He has worked in various American and Canadian movie and television productions, such as James Cameron's Titanic as Titanic's shipbuilder Thomas Andrews. He was part of the folk band The Sugar Shoppe, which enjoyed moderate success as they appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show and The Tonight Show Starring Johnny Carson.
From 1991 to 1993, Victor Garber landed a recurring guest role in the CTV series E.N.G. He was also cast on a number of films like Godspell in 1973, Sleepless in Seattle in 1993, Legally Blonde in 2001 and Tuck Everlasting in 2002. His Broadway career also prospered, as he appeared on original productions of Deathtrap, Sweeney Todd and Noises Off. He was also in the off-Broadway production Assassins, as well as the revival of Damn Yankees. He is also the recipient of four Tony Award nominations. He also played the male lead in the critically praised Encores presentation of Follies. For five years, Garber became well-known for playing Jack Bristow in the J.J. Abrams’ television series Alias. He earned three Emmy nominations for his performance. Garber next accepted a role on the cancelled television series Justice on the Fox network. After appearing on several series like Ugly Betty, Will & Grace and the Canadian science drama ReGenesis, Garber took on the role of Jordan Wethersby in the series Eli Stone. Wethersby is the owner of the firm where the title character works, and is the father of Eli’s love interest. Garber followed this up with the film Milk, starring Sean Penn, Emile Hirsch and James Franco. Some of Garber’s other television roles include appearances on Frasier, Cinderella, The Days and Nights of Molly Dodd and The Music Man. While filming Eli Stone, he signed on for a role in the TV miniseries The Last Templar.
