Interior designer Vern Yip was born on June 27, 1968 in Hong Kong. He is, however, based in Atlanta, Georgia and is best known for his work on TLC's Trading Spaces and HGTV's Design Star. He attended McLean High School, hoping to be a physician at first. But he changed his mind after completing two degrees and moved on to architecture. Since then, he has become a television personality and all-around designer. He also hosted four seasons of Deserving Design, in addition to the HGTV special Urban Oasis.
Vern Yip has been involved in several volunteer activities, designing for the UNICEF fundraiser called Snowflake Ball in 2009. As for his personal life, he and his partner have a son named Gavin Joshua Mannox and a daugther named Vera Lillian Beatrix.
