Biography

US5 is an all-male pop band with members from many different countries. The band was first established in 2005 on German television reality show Big in America, and debuted in June of the same year on the Transcontinental record label. The original members of the group are Izzy Gallegos (born September 19, 1983 in Stockton, California), Tariq “Jay” Khan (born March 31, 1982 in London, England), Christopher Richard Stringini (born November 28, 1988 in Wheaton, Illinois), Michael “Mikel” Johnson (born July 18, 1987 in Mainz, Germany), and Christoph “Chris” Watrin (born August 7, 1988 in Cologne, Germany). Johnson and Watrin have since left the group, and Vincent “Vince” Tomas (born August 27, 1992 in Mansfield, Ohio) joined in 2007. US5 became successful throughout Central Europe with their debut album Here We Go, in 2005. The singles “Maria” and “Just Because of You” hit the top ten in many European countries. “Maria” went gold in the U.S. In 2006 US5 completed a tour throughout Germany, Austria, Switzerland and the UK, successfully working to promote the album across Europe. In fall 2006, US5 released their second album, In Control. They re-released the album in 2007 with new tracks, titled In Control: Reloaded, and in 2008 released Around the World, an aptly titled album for their diverse group lineup. Singles like “In the Club,” “One Night with You,” and “Rhythm of Life” have consistently gone to the tops of the charts in Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and across Europe.
