Uncle Ruckus appears in the Cartoon Network Adult Swim animated television series The Boondocks, based on the comic strip of the same name. An ugly and overweight black man, he spends most of his time criticizing and insulting his own African-American heritage and fellow people, while blindly and idiotically praising the supposed superiority of the white man instead. Though far from just being sardonic or self-deprecating, he actually holds an intense hatred and loathing for all black people, including himself, and is firmly convinced that they must all bow down to whites. This often leads to frustrated arguments with Granddad Robert, who is amazed by Uncle Ruckus’ outrageous attitude.
Uncle Ruckus works as a neighborhood handyman, doing jobs ranging from repairing pipes to watering gardens. He considers himself unworthy for any kind of work apart from menial labor. At one point, he even openly encourages white policemen who beat him up during the breaking up of a riot, saying that he and all black people deserve it. He also states that all black people should have stayed enslaved, and most of his rambling consists of white supremacist rhetoric. Despite these faults, he oddly maintains a friendship with Granddad Robert, who seems to tolerate his presence and pity his twisted beliefs.
