Biography

Tommy Dewey was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama, and attended Princeton University. He graduated in 2001, earning his degree in public policy and theater. He eventually moved to New York City, immediately snagging the part of Mike on the daytime drama Guiding Light. The next year, he spent his summer training at London’s prestigious Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. He worked for some time in theater, appearing on several New York productions. He became part of a two-man show, co-writing and starring in Natalie! for 2003’s New York International Fringe Festival. It also ran in Los Angeles’ National Comedy Theatre and at the Tamarind Theatre.

After his success on the stage, Tommy Dewey was chosen for a role on The WB comedy What I Like About You. He played Greg, the romantic interest of Amanda Bynes’ character, for one episode. Dewey continued to work with the network, as he was cast as Michael Dowling on the series The Mountain. It ran from 2004 to 2005, and lasted for 12 episodes. The next year, he portrayed a character on Cold Case and soon broke into film. He was first seen on the romantic dramedy I’m Reed Fish, starring Jay Baruchel and Alexis Bledel. He then booked a role in the humorous Fist in the Eye, before getting the part of Charlie in the 2007 thriller Unearthed. That year, he starred on the pilot episode of Family of the Year, before appearing in the Grey’s Anatomy episode titled “Kung Fu Fighting.” In 2008, Dewey was chosen to play the character James, a self-proclaimed ladies’ man, in the ABC Family Channel series Roommates. Other than that, he has been given a part on the movie 17 Again, starring Zac Efron, and on an episode of Criminal Minds.

Aside from acting, Tommy Dewey develops writing projects for film, television and theater. He is also an avid helicopter skier.
