Both living in New York City, Tom and Terry first met during a singles event, and they decided to participate in The Amazing Race 10 because they wanted to further strengthen their bond and also win the one million dollar cash prize. During the third leg of the race, Tom and Terry were issued a penalty of 30 minutes for traveling by motorcycles, which they can't travel by for safety reasons in Vietnam. They came in second at the end of the third leg, but because of the penalty, they were forced to accept an 8th place finish. But they were the fifth team eliminated from the race at the following leg, after they arrived in last place at the pit stop in Vietnam.
