Born on September 16, 1975 in Bussum, Netherlands, Thekla Reuten is best known for being a top European actress with several Oscar nominations under her belt. She is best known for her role as the female lead in the Emmy-nominated terrorism-themed US miniseries Sleeper Cell. The daughter of an Italian mother and a Dutch father, she graduated from Amsterdam’s Academy of Dramatic Arts in 1997.
Reuten came to global prominence with her role in the Oscar-nominated film Twin Sisters, a critics favorite worldwide. Twin Sisters received an Oscar nomination for Best Foreign Film.
