The Cab is an American rock band, made up of members Alex DeLeon, Cash Colligan, Alex Johnson, Alex Marshall, and Ian Crawford. The band hails from Las Vegas, Nevada and is signed to Fueled by Ramen subsidiary Decaydance Records. The Cab’s debut album, Whisper War, was released in April 2008.
Band members DeLeon and Colligan began playing music together in high school. The two recorded demos as a duo, which they put up for publicity on the Internet. The band gained steam (and more members) through 2005, and played shows around the Las Vegas area until 2006, when they signed to local label Olympus Records in January 2006. The band did not release any material through Olympus, but met Spencer Smith of the band Panic at the Disco at a show, and he was so impressed that he helped The Cab sign with Decaydance in early 2007. At this time, the members were seniors in high school.
Blender deemed The Cab #75 on the magazine’s Top 100 Hot in September 2007. At this point, they hadn’t even released any official material, but had gained a lot of publicity and a word-of-mouth fan base. They released an EP, Glitz and Glamour, in 2007. In March 2008, the band played the massive music festival SXSW, which draws crowds in the hundreds of thousands.
The Cab released their major debut album, Whisper War, in April 2008, with tracks featuring members of both Panic at the Disco and Fall Out Boy. Alternative Press called The Cab "The Band You Need To Know 2008". The Cab has toured fellow bands This Providence, Hey Monday, and A Rocket To The Moon. And in 2008 began a tour with Panic At The Disco, Dashboard Confessional, and the Plain White T's, called the Rock Band Live tour.
