Taylor Kitsch pursued an acting career in 2002, when he moved to New York to train, after which he began to take guest roles in shows such Godiva's and Kyle XY. He made his film debut in the 2006 feature John Tucker Must Die, and he later appeared in Snakes on a Place and The Covenant
Also in 2006, Kitsch received his biggest break, when he starred in the NBC series Friday Night Lights. His portrayal of troubled football player Tim Riggins earned him attention from critics. However, it took him a few years before appearing in major film roles; his other big break came when he appeared in the 2009 flick X-Men Origins: Wolverine. He later snagged the lead role in John Carter of Mars, and also starred in the apartheid-era drama The Bang Bang Club.
