Hairdresser Susie Smith is one of the contestants of the reality series Survivor: Gabon. Born on October 24, 1960, the Mexican-American graduated from the North Iowa Area Community College and currently works as a hairdresser. She also teaches English to non-English speaking children, from kindergarten to eighth grade. She spends her free time sewing, gardening and watching films.
Susie sees Survivor as an opportunity to give time to herself. She came from a poor background, having worked in crop fields with her immigrant parents and siblings. Tired of allowing others to influence her life, she sees the competition as a chance to turn things around. Despite her being a self-admitted potty mouth, she has a huge desire to win and, after overcoming many challenges of her own, will not let anything stand between her and the first spot.
