Born on October 27, 1979 in Methuen, Massachusetts, Susie Castillo is a former beauty queen and television personality and host. The daughter of a Dominican father and a Puerto Rican mother, her parents divorced when she was a child. She and her mother moved to Lawrence where they occasionally came on welfare. When she turned 16, she pursued professional modeling and has appeared in many teen magazines and commercial advertisements. She went to Methuen High School and eventually Endicott College, where she earned her degree in Interior Architecture and Design.
Castillo won her first pageant title in 1997, when she won Miss Massachusetts Teen USA. She represented her state in the 198 Miss Teen USA pageant, eventually won by Vanessa Minillo from South Carolina. Five years later, she won the title of Miss Massachusetts USA and later on won Miss USA in 2003, only the second from the state. She traveled to Panama to represent the country for Miss Universe , eventually placing 13th.
Castillo’s screen credits include My Wife and Kids, Miss Teen USA 2005 and she was formerly a regular VJ and host for TRL. In 2008, she hosted the ABC Family reality show America’s Prom Queen and later the NBC dance series Superstars of Dance. Castillo is one of the members of the Spirit Team on the NBC reality series School Pride, where communities go together to renovate aging and run-down public schools.
