Stephen Mangan finished a law degree at Cambridge University before entering the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art. After graduating in 1994, he pursued a career in theatre, believing the opportunities there are less limited than on screen. Early in his career he also appeared in several television shows and films, notably the acclaimed drama Billy Elliot.
Mangan's breakout role came in 2001, when he took the lead in Adrian Mole: The Cappuccino Years. This led to roles in the Channel 4 comedy Green Wing, as well as in Never Better and Free Agents. He also appeared in several other films, such as SuperTex and Confetti. Mangan is also a well-known voice artist, providing voiceovers for several UK-wide ad campaigns.
Mangan, who is married to actress Louise Delamere, will make his American debut in the Showtime series Episodes, alongside Matt LeBlanc and his Green Wing co-star Tamsin Greig.
