Actress Stephanie Lemelin was born on June 29, 1979 in Sewell, New Jersey. The daughter of former NHL goaltender Rejean Lemelin, she studied at the University of Pennsylvania, taking up a communications degree. During her junior year, she left for Australia and attended classes there, while working as an intern for a television network there. She eventually returned to the United States and graduated in 2001. She later moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.
Lemelin has appeared in several independent films, beginning with the 2001 dramatic release Last Summer. She has since appeared in other films such as Raising Flagg, The Thirst: Blood War, and an uncredited role in The 40 Year Old Virgin. She has also starred in several television shows, including guest roles in CSI, Malcolm in the Middle and the short-lived but acclaimed series Undeclared.
Lemelin was also a regular of numerous television pilots. After several unsuccessful ones, the pilot for Cavemen, where she appears in, was picked up for 13 episodes. Inspired by the ad series for Geico, Cavemen centers on a reality when cavemen were not fully replaced by modern humans; rather they exist as a distinct minority group. She played the role of Thorne, the best friend of Kate (Kaitlin Doubleday) and seemingly in a relationship with Andy (Sam Huntington). The series was quietly cancelled after it was put on hiatus during the writers’ strike in 2007.
In 2010, she was cast as Sam on the CBS comedy $#*! My Dad Says, which is based on the Twitter feed created by Justin Halpern.
