Sixwire is featured as one of the Top 12 bands in the Fox network’s competitive reality television series The Next Great American Band. It is an American country music group that hails from Nashville, Tennessee, and they took their name from a six-stringed guitar. All five members of the band have previously performed together with each other as session and touring musicians, before deciding to come together as a single group back in the year 2000. Sixwire eventually signed a contract together with Warner Bros. Records by the year 2002, and they have continued to work with the label up to the year 2007.
The band has four vocalists and guitarists: Andy Childs in the lead, together with producer Steve Mandile, Robb Houston, and Steve Mandile on the bass guitar. Rounding out their ranks is Chuck Tilley playing the drums and handling the percussion duties. They have all previously performed and toured together with the likes of Randy Travis, Dolly Parton, Faith Hill, Kenny Rogers, and Olivia Newton-John. Sixwire writes and produces all of its own original material, and also directs and edits its own music videos. They have stated that they do not intend to pattern themselves after the numerous bands and performers that have influenced them, but instead want to distinguish themselves with their own flavor of sound, involving strong vocals and big guitars.
