No one can simply believe what Shaun was before he became a G. Coming from the Bronx, Shaun is the son of a Marine. He was also formerly a member of the Navy, and when that period was over, Shaun ended up a bouncer. His rough-and-tumble attitude gave him enough knowledge of the streets, earning him his job. His street savvy attitude has taken him to a stable profession, but he wants much more and is resolute in achieving his goals.
As a G, Shaun has the marks of baggy clothes, numerous tattoos and a mouthful of gold. Upon being chosen for From G’s to Gents, Shaun must shy away from his trademark outfits and allow himself to be educated in proper manners and etiquette. The shine on his teeth must match his personality, and he believes he is ready for the change. Shaun defines himself as a true G because of his extraordinary outer shell, but he claims that he wants to ditch that to become a gent. He is determined to tie back his hair and don a suit, getting rid of the G exterior he’s grown fond of.
Shaun thinks he never takes anything for granted, appreciating things as they are. Being a pool-playing gun enthusiast makes him a gamer at heart. His competitive spirit makes him prepared and driven to do what he must in order to win. It is in his nature to prevail no matter what, and he won’t easily accept defeat. He has to accept, though, the trials that come his way. With his training in the Navy when he was younger, Shaun already has a background on discipline. Knowing that it takes more than appearance to be a G, Shaun learns that it takes so much more to be a certified gentleman.
