Biography

Seth Adam Meyers was born on December 28, 1973 in Bedford, New Hampshire. The actor and comedian is known for his work on Saturday Night Live, of which he is the head writer. Meyers attended West High School and later graduated from Northwestern University in Evanston, Illiois. There, he got his start in improv comedy by becoming a member of the sketch group Mee-Ow. He is also the older brother of Josh Myers, who was part of the cast of MADtv and That ‘70s Show.

Myers decided to pursue his career in comedy, joining the ImprovOlympic with the group Preponderate. He later became a cast member of the Amsterdam-based Boom Chicago with his brother. In 2001, Meyers joined Saturday Night Live and became known for his impersonations of John Kerry, Michael Caine, Prince Charles, Ryan Seacrest, Tobey Maguire, Nicolette Sheridan, Sean Penn and Kevin Federline.

In 2005, Seth Meyers was promoted as writing supervisor for Saturday Night Live, and became co-head writer the next year. He shared the position with Tina Fey and Andrew Steele. When Fey departed, Meyers took on the job of head writer for the show’s 2006-2007 season and became co-anchor of the Weekend Update news sketch with Amy Poehler. Soon, he was left as solo news anchor.

In addition to his work on SNL, Meyers has appeared on the big screen. He was cast in the 2008 film Journey to the Center of the Earth with Brendan Fraser and Anita Briem. Also that year, he had a cameo appearance on Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, starring Michael Cera and Kat Dennings. Meyers has also been seen on the 2004 comedy See This Movie, as well 2006’s American Dreamz. He directed the popular online series The Line, and even won the third season of Bravo’s Celebrity Poker Showdown, where he donated the prize to the Boston-based Jimmy Fund.
