Living without fear, Serge comes from Los Angeles, California is a man who lives for the present. He does whatever he’s inspired to do, owing to his unconventional upbringing. He was raised by a Russian/Armenian meat factory owner and a Dutch model, and Serge had to deal with a turbulent domestic life until the two separated. He became a self-taught artist while young, beginning as a songwriter/producer. He made the transition to painting abstract works and designing interior spaces eventually. Being educated at the Crossroads High School for the Arts and Sciences, Serge decided to earn a bachelor’s degree at USC. He screened demos for the Chrysalis Music Group after graduation and also assisted in their film and TV department. He discovered that interior design was his true mission in life when he was moved to New York City. There, he ran his own design company, Van Lian. The name of his company is a fusion of his father and mother’s last names. Serge is described as a free spirited renegade with boundless energy and passion for design. Very particular with details, Serge views every apartment as a blank canvass that he can’t wait to work on. He also looks for inspiration anywhere, roaming around the city without a destination and merely observing people, nature and architecture.
