Biography

Born on July 27, 1976 in Flint, Michigan, Seamus Dever is an actor best known for playing the role of Dr. Getti on Lifetime’s Army Wives and Dr. Ian Devlin on ABC’s General Hospital in addition to guest roles on several television series. The son of a history professor and a drama and English teacher, Dever moved to Bullhead City when he was young. He started out in theater when he was six, playing one of the little no-neck monster children in a local high school production of Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. Growing up, he was also vice president of the student body and graduated valedictorian in high school. He eventually attended Northern Arizona University, majoring in theater and broadcast journalism, where he discovered his love for Shakespeare. He graduated summa cum laude in three years and got into the graduate program of Carnegie-Mellon University and The Moscow Art Theater. After graduating, Dever moved to Los Angeles and started the rounds of theater in the city. He played Alex in the Los Angeles premiere of A Clockwork Orange, earning him rave reviews and noms for the Ovation Awards, Garland Awards, and Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle Awards. He made his television debut, however, as Dr. Getti on Army Wives and Dr. Ian Devlin on the ABC soap General Hospital. His other screen credits include CSI, Cold Case, Charmed, Without a Trace, CSI: Miami, Made Men, CSI: New York, and NCIS. He also dabbled in film, including Hollywoodland and the independently produced comedy Ready or Not.
