From New Orleans comes R&B and pop songwriter Scotty Granger, also known as the younger sibling of NBA All-Star Danny Granger. He even has melodies in his blood, as he is the great nephew of the legendary gospel singer Mahalia Jackson. This Elton John fan has been through a lot: from the struggle with his parents' divorce to Hurricane Katrina. He has turned to music since he droppoed out of college, which is one of his better decisions in life. He's already famous for writing European dance club hits, but he's hoping to reach a wider audience this time.
An optimist since he was young, Scotty Granger decided to become a contestant on Bravo's reality competition Platinum Hit. He is one of 12 other songwriters who are hoping to make it big in the music industry. Each episode challenges the contestants as they write and perform lyrics from a variety of genres, from rock music to ballads. The winner will receive a cash prize of $100,000, a publishing deal with songwriting collective The Writing Camp, and a recording deal with RCA/Jive label. Judging the contestants are Kara DioGuardi and Jewel, along with a number of guest judges.
