American actor Scott Holmes was born on May 30, 1952 in West Grove, Pennsylvania. He was active in the performing arts as a teenager, becoming a member of the state choir and band during his stint at Oxford Area High School. He eventually entered Catawba College in Salisbury, North Carolina, graduating with a degree in music and drama.
Holmes’ major television roles are in two daytime dramas. In 1984, he joined the cast of Ryan’s Hope, where he played the role of Dave Greenberg. He left the show in 1986. The following year, he joined the cast of another daytime drama, As the World Turns. He succeeded Greg Marx in playing the role of Tom Hughes, the lawyer son of Lisa Grimaldi (Eileen Fulton) and Bob Hughes (Don Hastings). His character is currently married to Margo Montgomery (Ellen Dolan), and their marriage has survived for 25 years despite numerous bouts of adultery.
Holmes was nominated four times for Soap Opera Digest Awards, all for Best Supporting Actor. These were in 1993, 1994, 1997 and 2000. He is also knows for his stage performances, appearing in productions such as The Rink, The Best Little !$#!#house Goes Public, Jerome Kern Goes to Hollywood, Evita and Grease in venues across the country.
