Ryan Hansen was born on July 5, 1981 in San Diego, California, where he was also raised. He began his acting career with a number of roles in television shows, appearing as a guest in Grounded for Life, Las Vegas and That’s So Raven. He started out small, becoming an extra in 2001’s TV movie Motorcrossed. This was followed by a role in The Geena Davis Show, as well as an appearance in the Ally McBeal episode titled “The Wedding.” In 2002, Hansen was cast as a pilot in Power Rangers Wild Force.

The next year, Ryan Hansen landed a part in the series Hunter, before being cast in two episodes of the comedy-drama Like Family. In 2005, he booked the part of Michael Micelli in Death by Engagement, before working on the direct-to-video movie The Cutting Edge: Going for the Gold. Later, he auditioned for the role of Duncan Kane in the television series Veronica Mars but landed the role of Dick Casablancas instead. His role is being the son of Richard Casablancas, Sr. and Betina Casablancas, and the brother of the deceased Cassidy Casablancas. Apart from being the son of Neptune's wealthiest man, Dick is often involved in felonious acts while attending Hearst College as a member of the Pi Sigma fraternity.

When the series ended in 2007, Hansen decided to take on more film roles. In 2007, he got the part of Kevin in Sherman’s Way, but gained even more fame in Superhero Movie, released in March that year. He later got the part of Trevor McKnight/ White Night in the CCT original musical Alice. In 2009, Hansen portrayed the character Nolan in the remake of the horror film Friday the 13th. Also that year, he was chosen to play Kyle in the television series Party Down.
