Rulon Gardner is an Olympic athlete who took home the gold medal in wrestling in the 2000 Olympics, as well as the bronze medal in 2004. Though he discontinued training for the Olympic team, his appetite has since increased and his weight has been blown out of proportion. Now weighing over 400 pounds and diagnosed with sleep apnea and high blood pressure, he looks forward to get back in shape with the help of The Biggest Loser, where he serves as one of the season 11 contestants.
Upon joining The Biggest Loser, Rulon weighed 474 pounds. He remained on the Ranch until week 16 and then decided to withdraw from the competition just before the weigh-in in week 17 due to personal reasons. Unfortunately, he was the only contestant who didn't return in the finale.
-Michael Ventrella, winner of The Biggest Loser season 9, served as Rulon's inspiration to join the show.
-He has nine siblings and is the youngest one among them.
