Rockmond Dunbar as Benjamin Miles "C-Note" Franklin


Born on January 11, 1973 in Oakland, California, Rockmond Dunbar attended Morehouse College and the University of New Mexico. As an actor, Dunbar received training in theater arts, but first broke through the entertainment industry as a regular cast member on Steven Spielberg's television venture, Earth 2. He then went on to appear on the series, Good News, and was subsequently given guest roles on shows like Felicity, The Pretender, Two Guys and a Girl, G. vs. E., Head Cases and North Shore. He also gave life to a recurring character on the UPN show, Girlfriends. One of his most popular television starring roles was Kenny Chadway on the Showtime drama series, Soul Food. Dunbar has also graced the big screen with his appearances on the films Punks, Misery Loves Company, Sick Puppies, Whodunit, All About You, Love the Way and Kiss, Kiss, Bang, Bang.



Aside from acting, Dunbar has also explored other artistic ventures, such as setting up a mixed-media exhibit called ARTHERAPY, writing for the drama series, Solitaire, and serving as director and producer of the Showtime made-for-tv short movie, The Great Commission.

One of the recognitions he has received is being hailed as TV Guide magazine's Television's 50 Sexiest Stars of All Time. In 2003, he tied the knot with Ivy Holmes, and in the same year, posed completely naked for a calendar.


In 2006 and 2007, he starred as Benjamin Miles Franklin, the tough, mysterious inmate "C-Note," on the new hit Fox series, Prison Break. He greatly admires his co-star Robert Knepper, and has tried his best to keep himself fit for the show. The fate of all the show's characters remain unpredictable, and Dunbar told IGN.com that he himself gets excited over reading what is in store for them next. Moreover, for the second season of the show, Dunbar is quite happy that his character's more sensitive side is highlighted, as C-Note is shown to have more significant interaction with his family.

In 2007, Dunbar starred on the TNT transplant surgery drama, Heartland .

Biography

Rockmond Dunbar was born January 11, 1973 in Oakland, California. Named one of Television’s 50 Sexiest Stars of All Time by TV Guide, Dunbar came to prominence as Benjamin “C-note” Franklin on the hit show, Prison Break, from 2005-2007. He studied at Vallejo High School, Morehouse College, the College of Santa Fe, and later on at the University of New Mexico.

He got his first break on Steven Spielberg’s Earth 2 back in 1994, and has since appeared in a number of popular television shows. He made his film debut in 1993’s Misery Loves Company, and has been seen as a guest star on The Good News, The Wayans Bros., Pacific Blue, The Pretender, Felicity and Two Guys, a Girl and a Pizza Place.

In 2000, he rose to fame portraying Kenny Chadway on the critically acclaimed television series Soul Food. At that time, Dunbar was starring on the comedy film Punks, and on an episode of G vs E. The next year, he was cast in the romantic drama All About You, before he landed a part in the crime drama Hollywood Division. Other than Prison Break, he was seen on North Shore in 2005, as well as two episodes of Head Cases. Dunbar also obtained a role in the comic mystery thriller Kiss Kiss Bang Bang, enabling him to work with actors like Robert Downey Jr., Val Kilmer, Michelle Monaghan, and Corbin Bernsen. In 2006, Dunbar starred in the drama/comedy Dirty Laundry, written and directed by Maurice Jamal. His co-stars included Loretta Devine, Jenifer Lewis, and Terri J. Vaughn. The next year, Dunbar joined the cast of the TNT series Heartland, portraying the strong and confident Dr. Tom Jonas. The actor followed up the role with guest spots in Shark, Grey’s Anatomy, and CSI: Miami. In 2008, Dunbar landed the role of Chris in the drama The Family That Preys. Aside from performing, he has also contributed to the world of art through the mixed media art exhibit ARTHERAPY. He later co-produced and starred in the feature film Jada, and has written the script for Solitaire.
