Canadian actor Rick Roberts was born on November 13, 1965 in Hamilton, Ontario. He started acting in 1992, starring in an episode of the science fiction series Beyond Reality. His first big break came in 1996, when he joined the cast of the Canadian drama series Traders. His portrayal of smart but shy investment banker Donald D’Arby earned him a nomination for a Gemini Award in 1998. His next regular television role was in the slort-lived medical drama L.A. Doctors, where he played one of the leads, Evan Newman.
Roberts’ next regular television role was in another Canadian series, this time the sitcom An American in Canada. Quite ironically, he plays an American, Jake Crewe, a television news anchor who was forced to move to Calgary and host the city’s lowest-rating morning news show. It ran for two seasons from 2003 to 2004. In 2005, he snagged a recurring role in the acclaimed Canadian legal drama This is Wonderland. The following year, he joined the cast of the short-lived American drama Angela’s Eyes, where he played Gene Taylor, the boss of FBI agent Angela Anderson (Abigail Spencer). The series ran for one season in 2006.
Roberts has also appeared in several films. His first came in 1993, when he starred in the drama Love & Human Remains in a supporting role. He has since starred in numerous other films, notably Time to Say Goodbye?, Man of the Year, and the television movie Student Seduction, where he played the husband to Elizabeth Berkley’s character. He’s also been a guest in several other television programs, such as The Outer Limits, Providence, The Associates, The Eleventh Hour and Life with Derek.
