Born Richard Charles Herbst on January 4, 1965 in Howard Beach, New York, Ric Hearst is an acclaimed three-time Emmy Award winning actor who was launched to fame by the soap operas he has been in. In 1989, he briefly joined the cast of Days of Our Lives
as Scott Banning II, and moved on to play Alan-Michael Spalding in Guiding Light a year later. In 2000, he played Matt Clark in The Young and the Restless
and moved on to play Whipple Jones III in The Bold and the Beautiful
. 2002 saw him joining the cast of yet another long running soap opera, General Hospital where he played Ric Lansing. Hearts also appeared as a recurring guest star on Beverly Hills 90210
and has also appeared as guest on television series such as Jenny and Pacific Blue. He has been nominated for daytime Emmy Awards seven times, three of which he won. In 2004 and 2007, he won Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series for playing Ric Lansing in General Hospital and Outstanding Younger Actor in a Drama Series in 1991 for his role in Guiding Light
Richard "Ric" Lansing is played by Rick Hearst in the soap opera, General Hospital. Ric is the half-brother of mob boss Sonny Corinthos, whom he has several similarities with. He is a manipulative, troubled man who is bitter towards his mother because after his parents separated, she gave him up to his father who raised him with his step mother. However, Ric grew up to be a successful lawyer and came to Port Charles to get even with his brother, Sonny. He later kidnapped Sonny's pregnant wife Carly and tried to raise Sonny and Carly's son as his own.
