Born on October 15, 1958 in Opalacka, Florida, Renee Jones grew up in Georgia and New York. She grew up on her grandmother's farm with 13 kids (her five siblings and eight cousins). The living conditions were quite crude, as there was no indoor plumbing. Thus, she quickly learned to handle chores such as chopping wood and drawing water from the well.
Jones was signed up by the prestigious Ford modeling agency when she was 19. She had a night job as a grocery store cashier. She went on to become the first black model to appear on the cover of Teen Magazine. She eventually made her acting debut on the prime time series The White Shadow during the late '70s to early '80s. Her other acting credits include a wide variety of television dramas, such as the legal drama L.A. Law, the soap Knots Landing, and the sitcom Night Court. She has likewise guest-starred in Star Trek: The Next Generation, In the Heat of the Night, Sunset Beat, American Dreams, 21 Jump Street, Insiders, Highway to Heaven, Marblehead Manor, What’s Happening Now!!, T.J. Hooker, Bodies of Evidence, Jessie and Trapper John, M.D, The Jeffersons, The White Shadow, Jessie, Diff'rent Strokes, Santa Barbara, and 21 Jump Street. Since 1980, Renee Jones has appeared in around 40 television shows.
Outside of her acting career, Renee Jones enjoys reading, playing tennis, and working out. In 2006, she started learning Spanish. She also takes self-defense classes.
More than anything, however, Renee Jones is best known for her role on the NBC soap Days of our Lives. During the early 1980s, Jones starred as Nikki Wade. She took on a new role as Lexie Carver
in February 1993 when she returned to the soap. She has been nominated a total of five times in the NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Actress in a Daytime Drama Series.
