Rachael Leigh Cook consistently lights up her various roles, making her breakthrough in the 1999 teen romantic comedy She’s All That.
Born on October 4, 1974 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, Cook was educated at Clara Barton Open, Laurel Springs School and Minneapolis South High School. At the age of 10, she made her way into the entertainment business working as a print model. She appeared on nationwide advertisements for Target and on boxes of Milk-Bone dog biscuits. When she was 14, she began auditioning for acting jobs.
Rachel Leigh Cook got the attention of many when she was featured in a public service announcement on TV, titled "This is Your Brain on Drugs". Some time later, she began her career in films like The Baby-Sitters Club, based on the Ann M. Martin book series.
In 1997, she got a lead role in the film Country Justice and was also on Tom and Huck. Early in her career, she got small roles in The Outer Limits, Strike and the drama Dawson’s Creek. She rose to fame playing aspiring rock singer Josie McCoy in 2001’s Josie and the Pussycats, and then appeared on films like Sally, Get Carter and Antitrust alongside Ryan Phillippe. Cook also got a number of roles in lower-budget films, some of them being Texas Rangers, Tangled, Scorched, The Big Empty and My First Wedding. She also became known for playing the role of Clara Wheeler in the miniseries Into the West. In 2005, she accepted the role of Penny Posin, the potential love interest of the lead character in the NBC hit series Las Vegas. Rachel Leigh Cook followed this up with further film roles, appearing on 2007’s Nancy Drew movie, Matters of Life and Death and Blonde Ambition. She is also known for lending her voice to characters on the animated series Robot Chicken and the video game Kingdom Hearts II. Cook was also seen on an episode of the series Psych in 2008.
In 2012, Cook stars as Kate Moretti in a new drama, "Perception", opposite Eric McCormack
