Quentin Tarantino’s movies have been the subject of interest by audiences and film enthusiasts for his distinct style and approach. He has also won many awards for his work as a film director and screenwriter.
He was born on March 27, 1963, in Knoxville, Tennessee. He trained under actor James Best after dropping out of high school. At 22, he worked at a movie rental shop in Manhattan Beach, California, where he discussed and recommended films with future colleague Roger Avary. In 1994, Quentin Tarantino premiered Pulp Fiction at the Cannes Film Festival. The film, which starred John Travolta, Samuel L. Jackson and Uma Thurman, won the Palme d’Or at the festival. It also earned him and Roger Avary an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay. He was also nominated for an Oscar for Best Director.
After producing the 1997 film Jackie Brown, Quentin Tarantino started work on Kill Bill, which stars Uma Thurman and David Carradine. The film, which was eventually split into two parts because of its length, was nominated for Saturn Awards in 2004 and 2005. In 2005, he collaborated with director Robert Rodriguez on the double-bill Grindhouse, contributing Death Proof. He was also credited in directing the car sequence for the 2005 film Sin City.
Tarantino has also produced films, including Hostel and Hell Ride. He has also directed television programs, including an episode each of ER, in 1995, and CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, in 2005; and a sketch on Saturday Night Live in 1995. He also had cameo appearances in some movies, such as Desperado, Little Nicky, and even his own films.
