A native of Amarillo, Texas, Preston is a designer pursued his career at an early age. He studied under a number of designers, architects, and developers and was educated at The Fashion Institute for Design and Merchandising. After his formal training there, he went to Australia for a year to continue his learning. He then knew that he was meant to design. Preston worked full-time for two years at Kenneth Brown Design. He then established his own design firm when he was just 21 years old. His high-profile design projects involved creating the set design for the Janice Dickinson Modeling Agency, as well as the iCandy bar and a condo complex in West Hollywood. He has also worked on several celebrity homes throughout his career. As for his style, Preston thinks that it is sexy and sophisticated, and believes in the necessity of beauty and comfort. He also sets his clients on the challenge of thinking outside the box, lending the extra wow factor needed for a good design.
Preston is one of the thirteen designers competing in the second season of Top Design. The BravoTV game show is hosted by the stylish model and designer India Hicks, who is joined by fashion designer Todd Oldham. Oldham was the previous host of the show, but will serve as mentor to the contestants of the second season. Last season’s judges, Jonathan Adler, Kelly Wearstler and Margaret Russell, will be returning. Top Design is looking for one talented designer who will demonstrate the most flair and versatility in the challenges. Preston is vying for a $100,000 cash prize, as well as a four-page spread in Elle D?cor magazine.
