Originally from Chengdu, Sichuan Province, China, designer Ping Wu has a lot on her plate. She works as a physical therapist, a model, a design intern, an interpreter, a reporter and even a freelance writer. Despite all that, she has dedicated herself to managing “Ping Wu Design Studio” as its owner.
Ping Wu attended Self Employment in the Arts at North Central College in Chicago, in addition to studying at the Istituto Marangon ai in Milan, Italy. She then received internships at Luisa Beccaria and BLESS before earning several honors for her designs. One of those she’s proudest of is becoming a semifinalist in Ecco Domani Fashion Foundation 2009 Competition.
This peppy and passionate lady made one big spur of the moment decision in her life, when she filled up the application form for Project Runway on the night before the deadline. She eventually found herself as a contestant in the hit reality TV competition’s seventh season, set in New York. She became one of the 16 designers vying for the top prize and the chance to launch their careers in the fashion industry. Though she was initially praised, she was quickly eliminated on the third episode of the season. Since then, she has continued showcasing her accessories and designs online and in shows.
