Paul Dinello is a director and writer who was born on November 28, 1962 in Oak Park, Illinois. Brought up in a family of five children, he has three sisters and a brother named David. Dinello once referred to his high school days as “dark years.” He later went on to pursue higher learning at De Paul University, and soon became involved with The Second City improvisational comedy troupe, initially because of a paper he had to write for a class. Dinello was hired on the same day along with noted comedy performers Amy Sedaris, Stephen Colbert, and the late Chris Farley.
Tad is portrayed by Paul Dinello in the Comedy Central television series The Colbert Report. He is the building manager, and has been featured in his own special segments, such as the building’s fire drill. However, Tad often finds himself berated or lambasted by Colbert, and the anchorman also forces him to perform dangerous stunts. One of these was a tumbling act together with Colbert and their mutual friend Sedaris. Another segment that Tad has appeared in was a visit to a bank auction for the assets of Randy “Duke” Cunningham. He also traveled to Colbert County, Alabama in order to open the Stephen Colbert Museum and Gift Shop.
