Paul Blackthorne began acting in several TV commercials in England. He later appeared in several movies, the earliest including the Oscar-nominated Lagaan, and later in the indie film Four Corners of Suburbia.
Blackthorne's roles on British television include stints in the BBC's Holby City. He later appeared in American series such as Presidio Med, ER and 24. He held the lead role in the Syfy series The Dresden Files. He later starred in Lipstick Jungle, The Gates and White Collar. In 2012, he was cast in ABC's The River, as well as The CW's Arrow as Detective Quentin Lance.
