Neeraja Lockart became known as a contestant in season two of the HGTV reality series Design Star. A native of Palm Springs, California, she went on to work as a photo stylist upon graduating from high school. She says that a designer’s best friends are wallpaper and paint, and that her secret weapon is her imagination. Her design style boils down to drama and color, and amongst her other favorite styles are modern, maximalism, and Hollywood regency. She believes that color is a vital design element, though she doesn’t agree with an overabundance of beige. Her favorite designer is Muriel Brandolini, and her favorite room to design is a bathroom.
Aside from designing, she can also lay tiles and is a makeup artist. She dreams of designing her own nightclub, the show she’d like to do if she won would involve segments on boutique hotels all over the world, modern architecture in her country, and fashion designers at home. Her childhood dream is to marry David Bowie, and she is especially close to her mother and her 16-year-old daughter. She also dreams of going on vacation in either Shanghai or Vietnam, and describes herself as moody, creative, playful, and funny.
On the series Design Star, she scored low on the first challenge and was booted on episode 2. She has since returned to her job, pursuing her career in design.
