Born on February 25, 1966 in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, Nancy O’Dell is a television host and entertainment journalist best known for co-hosting Access Hollywood. After finishing from the now-closed Coastal Academy High School in 1984, she went on to graduate summa !$#!# laude from Clemson University with a major in marketing in 1990. She was also a member of the Kappa Kappa Gamma sorority. While in college, O’Dell, who was then known as Nancy Humphries, won the Miss South Carolina pageant in 1987 and consequently represented the state at the Miss America 1988.
O’Dell has been with the NBC Universal entertainment news program Access Hollywood since its inception in 1996. She became co-host with Billy Rush in 1999. She serves as a contributor for the Today Show and Dateline NBC, both for the same network. She also co-hosted the Miss USA and Miss Universe competitions in 2004 and 2005 respectively. Her other hosting credits include the New York City St. Patrick’s Day Parade from 2004 to 2006, the Miss USA pageant in 2006, and the Miss Universe pageant in 2006 and 2007 with Carlos Ponce and Tim Vincent respectively.
Unknown to some fans, O’Dell has also appeared on several television roles either as herself or as the generic reporter, including minor roles on Charmed and Scream 3 in 2000. She was also host and consulting producer of USA Network’s Nashville Star for a couple of seasons before leaving the show to prioritize Access Hollywood. She hosted the 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards Winners Special after the main awards was canceled due to the writers’ strike. O’Dell is one of the stars to appear on the eighth season of Dancing with the Stars, an ABC reality show.
